Completion of medication administration class within first 90 days of employment.REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Nursing Services and School PrincipalJOB GOAL: To assist the nursing department in providing services for students with physical or cognitive limitations with activities of daily living (ADLs) while at school.TERM: Nine Months SALARY: Paraprofessional Salary SchedulePERFORMNANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:I. Assist identified students with basic grooming tasks as hygiene, ensuring clothes are clean and fastened, eye glass positioning, and ensuring hearing aids batteries are working as needed.II. Assist identified student with eating process to include hand washing, application of required orthotics, assist with oral and G-tube feedings as needed.III. Assist identified students with toileting to include transfer, mobility, positioning to a toileting device, feminine hygiene, use of toileting equipment or supplies, cleansing perineal areas, diapering, catherization, inspecting skin, and adjusting clothing as needed.IV. Assist identified students with transferring from a seated or reclining position to another, adjusting as needed for comfort and care.V. Assist identified students with ambulation, including use of wheelchair, leg braces, mobile standers, or mobility aids as needed.VI. Assist with medication administration, oral suctioning, tracheostomy care, and other procedures under the direction of school nurse.VII. Provide positive behavioral support to assist identified students with prompting to perform tasks related to their physical, behavioral, and/or academic needs.VIII. Keep accurate daily documentations of services provided to support identified student needs.IX. Effectively communicate with nursing staff, school personnel, and students primary care giver(s).X. Recognize, respond, and report student needs or changes in students' condition to nursing staff.XI. Perform any other duties assigned by the Coordinator of Nursing or School Principal.
