Engineering Technician (Torque Technician)

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (Torque Tech) JOB SUMMARY: Torque Technician is responsible for control of monitoring, measuring and documenting manufacturing torque tools, to ensure that equipment is suitable for its intended purpose and is capable of producing valid results. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as a liaison and coordinate with Plant team members to make sure that lessons learned from other plants, best practices, and plant goals are driven into the production process. Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance and support to ensure that the resultant fastener assembly processes, torque tooling and equipment will improve throughput, scrap/rework reduction, reduce cost, and improve quality and reliability. Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch. Work with PC&L team to optimize fastener material flow to production line. Maintain / update Master Torque Matrix Perform Static Torque Monitoring to monitor assembly process and facilitate containment activities. Monitor / improve Dynamic Torque strategies via Tools Talk software. Maintain torque database. Monitor gun rundowns and swap tools for calibration as needed. Maintain and procure, as needed, a spare parts inventory consisting of DC Tools, click wrenches, battery guns, and sockets. Maintain equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database. Ensure compliance with Android’s quality systems for resolving Android defects, Customer defects and Supplier defects. Provide leadership through communicating quality status to the team and the managers, facilitating the setting of quality goals and provides the necessary training to continually improve Android’s quality. Work for the production team to help improve quality. Continually find ways to improve efficiency, eliminate waste and reduce overhead. Each member of the Android team is responsible to help achieve the continuous improvement. Maintain a safe and “showroom cleanliness” environment. All other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School degree TRAVEL: Travel Required: No KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: General understanding of manufacturing processes. Good decision-making skills with ability to grasp technical concepts. Basic understanding of GD&T process diagrams, PFMEA, and Control Plans. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members – manufacturing, engineering, corporate team, etc. Computer skills to include Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates the ability to follow systems. Desire to continually improve.
