See our website for more about our vision and values: https://www.missiochurchdurham.comRequirements:A loving follower of Jesus with a high view of Scripture and a passion for the local church as an expression of the Kingdom of God (value of “mission”). Highly collaborative style (value of “mutuality”); experience working in children’s ministry An approach to children’s ministry that is biblically driven, gospel-shaped, prayerful, and sensitive to Missio’s emphases on the values of mission and mutuality.Passion for working with children and engagement on their level. Experience working with children (infant through 5th grade) and basic understanding of children’s developmental stages. Ability to work well with adult volunteers and parents. Competent in the administrative and organizational aspects of ministry. CPR certified or willingness to be trained.Willingness to submit to the doctrine and polity of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church denomination. Responsibilities:Develop a growing children’s ministry (Missio Kids) in collaboration with the pastor. Plan and implement all programs for children (infants through 5th grade). On Sundays, the church plant currently has nursery for children ages 0-3 years old and children’s church (during sermon and after) for ages pre-K through 3rd grade. There is a need to develop ministry for 4th and 5th graders. Recruit and train all volunteers for children’s ministry. Intentionally engage willing middle schoolers and high schoolers in volunteering with Missio Kids. Maintain a presence in the congregation that enables collaboration with parents and volunteers. Oversee the selection (in coordination with the pastor) and implementation of the curriculum and materials needed for the various age groups.Oversee all children’s ministry activities on Sundays or schedule point persons.Strategically attend church-wide events to minister to children and families. Work with the Director of Communications in order communicate with the Missio Kids' volunteer team and Missio Kids' families.Order all materials needed for Missio Kids.Monitor spending and stay within the children’s ministry budget.Implement and monitor the Safety Procedures and Policies.Time and Term Commitment:10-20 hours per week.One-year commitment renewable annually pending review by supervisor and the Session. Supervision:The Director of Children’s Ministry will be under the supervision of the Pastor. The Pastor is under the authority of the Session.
