Job Title: ControllerLocation: Chicago, IL (4 days onsite)Type: Full-Time, Permanent/Direct HirePay Range: $160,000 - $170,000 base salary plus 20% bonusBenefits: Annual incentive and a benefits package to all full-time employees including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) retirement plan match, health savings accounts, etc.Company: Real Estate Investment FirmKey Responsibilities:Oversee accounting teamsReview, approve, and provide feedback on staff - journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.Coach, train, and mentor team members at all levelsOversee full-cycle accountingReview and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reportingEnsure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthlyReview property-level payables and receivablesOversee the review and maintenance of property fixed asset recordsOversees all corporate financial functions including accounting, budgeting, credit, risk, tax, and treasuryReviews and approves corporate required reportsLeads the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and business strategic analysis of the firmReviews quarterly valuation summariesKey Qualifications:Bachelor's in Accounting requiredCPA requiredMinimum of 7+ accounting experience (at least 1 year as a controller)Previous experience with institutional real estate accounting requiredBig 4 or mid-tier audit experience preferred
