This role is ideal for a senior DBA who is comfortable working closely with systems and software engineers, translating customer needs into database solutions, and supporting backend systems in secure environments.What You'll DoAs a Principal Database Administrator, you will:Create, update, maintain, and manage backend databases and the code that interacts with themIdentify and understand customer needs and translate them into viable database design solutionsApply strong database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineeringPartner with systems and software engineers to implement, modify, and support backend databasesPerform database administration activities using the Linux command lineTroubleshoot database issues related to:Disaster recoveryReplicationBackupsPerformance issuesOther database-related issuesSupport database security controls, audit requirements, and compliance standardsAutomate routine database administration tasksCommunicate technical concepts clearly across engineering and program teamsUse strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a classified technical environmentRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM fieldMaster's degree preferred8+ years of professional-level Database Administration experienceInternship experience does not count toward this requirementExperience with Relational Database Management Systems, including:Oracle ExadataOracle Intelligent AdvisorExperience working with systems and software engineers to implement and modify backend databasesLinux command line experience for database administration activitiesExperience troubleshooting:Disaster recoveryReplicationBackupsPerformance issuesOther database-related issuesExperience with database security controls, audit, and compliance requirementsExperience automating routine database administration tasksCurrent Security+ certification or ability to obtain Security+ within 90 days of startClearance RequirementActive and transferable DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. TS/SCI with CI Polygraph is preferred.
