Kingsford is the leading manufacturer of charcoal in the United States and our charcoal has become synonymous with authentic grilling, good food and most importantly, good times.Starting Hourly Rate - The starting hourly rate is $21.94 plus $0.80 shift differential on the night shift. After qualifying in the role, the base pay rate increases to $22.61 per hour.Work Schedule 2-2-3 schedule 12-hour shifts 14-day rotation (2 weeks of day shift, followed by 2 weeks of night shift) Shift example: Week 1 (Day Shift 7am 7pm): 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on Week 2 (Day Shift 7am 7pm): 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off Week 3 (Night Shift 7pm 7am): 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on Week 4 (Night Shift 7pm 7am): 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days offIn this role, you will:The Production Worker is responsible for the processing, manufacture, packaging, storing and distribution of charcoal briquettes. The Production Worker may be assigned to work in any of these areas of the plant:Retort In the Retort department we convert wood waste to char that goes into the charcoal briquettesManufacturing In the Manufacturing department we combine the char and other raw materials to create the charcoal briquettePackaging In the Packaging department we operate machines that package finished charcoal briquettes into bagsWarehouse In the Warehouse we store finished bags of charcoal briquettes for shipments to customers or other warehousesEssential Functions:Press control buttons to activate machinery and equipmentTurn controls to adjust and regulate machine function as well as flow, speed, and temperatureClean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipmentMove materials, supplies, components, and finished products between storage and work areasPour, scoop, or dump specified ingredients into sections of machine prior to starting machinesFeed ingredients and products into machines by hand or conveyor and unload finished packaged productDisassemble equipment to repair it or to replace partsMonitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups or jams or defectsStop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, remove defective or substandard materials or productsExamine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standardsPackage the product in the form in which it will be sent outStock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging suppliesOperate palletizing equipment to wrap finished products on pallets for site warehouse storage or shipping and distributionOperate powered industrial trucks to move materials and products around the facility, including loading finished product into trailersOperate heavy equipment including bulldozers to move materials around the facilityWhat we look for:High School or GED equivalentStrong attention to detail and quality standardsBasic mechanical aptitude for minor repairsAbility to work safely and follow established protocolsEffective communication and teamwork skillsPreferred Qualifications2 years of experience in manufacturing, machine operation, or warehouse environments is preferred, not requiredAbility to troubleshoot and perform minor mechanical repairsKnowledge of workplace safety practices and PPE usageOur Values-Based CultureOur values-based culture connects to our purpose and empowers people to be their best, professionally and personally.
