Program Leader/Assistant Program Leader
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Seeking students and adults with sports knowledge andleadership skills! The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire a ProgramLeader and Assistant Program Leader. Under the supervision of theRecreation Manager/Coordinator, the employee in this position isresponsible for the overall direction and oversight of any portionassociated with a recreation program. Independently provides directionto staff, coaches, volunteers, umpire/referees and spectators on issuesrelating to a program plan and program structure, team selection, ruleinterpretation, schedules, equipment needs and use, safety ofparticipants, umpires/referees, staff and spectators. Essential JobFunctions: Depending on position will either perform (Program Leader) orassist (Assistant Program Leader) with the following duties. Developsand implements meaningful and instructive practice plans and/or lessonsplans. Teaches participants the rules and regulations of theactivity/sport and/or program. Leads tryouts, practices, evaluatesprogram participant\'s skill level and develops teams. Develops programroles and guidelines. Distributes and collects program materials such asequipment, forms, uniforms and schedules. Sets-up and cleans-upfacilities. Reports injuries, facility hazards, and program concerns toSupervisor. Responds to accidents and emergencies in an appropriatemanner; administering first aid according to your level of training,administering first aid according to the blood borne pathogen exposurecontrol plan. Completes incident and accident reports as required.Responsible for the program equipment and the condition of equipment.Attends/runs the training and organizational meetings of a program.Maintains communication with program participants, program staff andoffice staff. Supervises other seasonal or part-time program staff andensures they are providing appropriate instruction and supervision ofparticipants. Resolves conflicts or problems that occur while theprogram is functioning and between program staff and participants, andbetween members of the staff. Contributes to a cooperative workingeffort by demonstrating a willingness to perform other job-related work,as needed or requested. The interdependency of operations is recognizedand the abilities and skills exist to do other work as needed orrequested. Assistance is given to others and special projects completedas scheduled or requested. This is a recognized and accepted part ofbeing a member of the program staff. Other duties as required orassigned. Compensation: Wage range forthese seasonal, limited-term positions is \$13.00 to \$17.00 per hourDepending On Qualifications, Budget And/or Position.
