Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod - Office of National MissionReporting RelationshipsReports to the Director of School Ministry.Working RelationshipsCollaborate on development and execution of projects and program operations with LCMS School Ministry Staff, program directors in the Office of National Mission and designated representatives from offices within corporate Synod, especially mission and ministry units under the supervision of the Chief Mission Officer.Essential Job FunctionsManage the Genesis/LSCS Consulting Program, including the coordination of contracts, interaction with consultants and conference vendors, maintenance of databases and analyzing progress based on recommendations from consultantsManage the National Lutheran School Accreditation Program, as assigned by the Director of school ministry, including the development and implementation of surveys, databases and resulting action itemsInteract with the various accreditation agencies with which NLSA has reciprocityManage training for NLSA Commissioners and the various team members associated with the accreditation process, including the bi-annual National Accreditation Commission meetingsManage NLSA Professional Development Program and issue Continuing Education Units to participantsManage the SLED Program, developing application materials, evaluating progress, maintaining the database and appropriate surveys, as well as applicable content, both in-person and onlineSupport and Resource Classical Lutheran Education and Homeschooling, including the advocacy for diverse expressions of Lutheran education and providing consultation to congregations, districts and associations interested in launching or expanding these or other forms of Lutheran education, faithful to Scripture and the Lutheran ConfessionsDevelop and distribute resources, organize conferences and workshops, and foster collaborative networks that equip classical Lutheran educators and homeschooling familiesServe as a liaison to the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education (CCLE) and other partners to strengthen alignment between LCMS School Ministry and classical/homeschool networks while encouraging and facilitating connections between all those engaged in the diverse forms of Lutheran EducationOther ONM-related duties and projects, as assigned by the ONM managing director or executive director.Education And ExperienceA member of an LCMS congregation, faithful to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions and supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws and policiesA bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree in education, education leadership, or equivalent field5 years of experience as a Lutheran school administrator, preferredExperience in the areas of communication, including writing, public speaking, and program developmentA comprehensive knowledge of Biblical Confessional Lutheran theology and educational issuesCompetencies (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)Visionary and proactive leaderSelf-starter with ability to develop a vision for the futureDemonstrated ability to work with and coordinate with a variety of people and groupsAbility to function as a member of a national office and in supportive relationships with district leaders.Clearly and concisely articulate the strong position of the LCMS regarding education issues and our Lutheran theologyUnderstanding of the church’s proper role within the left-hand kingdom and an understanding of diverse platforms for public advocacyKeen interest in and the ability to keep current with issues pertaining to Lutheran Christian educationCompetent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe AcrobatAbility to identify and balance workflow and proceduresWillingness to travelSupervisory ResponsibilityNone
