Software Test Engineer

Description Location: Seattle, WA area preferred. The role can be hybrid but expectation of in office a minimum of 3-5 days per week due to client/server throughput testing that has to be done in the Seattle office. We are seeking a Software Test Engineer (P2) to join our Secure Access team in Seattle. This role is focused on delivering high-quality releases through hands-on testing, with a primary emphasis on client/server throughput and performance validation. You will work across multiple areas of testing while building deeper expertise in performance and scalability. This role partners closely with development, architecture, and QA peers in a collaborative, agile environment. You will take ownership of defined test areas, contribute ideas to improve quality and efficiency, and collaborate across teams to solve complex problems. Over time, you will expand your scope and influence as your technical depth grows. Design, execute, and maintain test plans and test cases for Secure Access featuresPerform client-server testing across wired and wireless networks in multi-platform environments (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS)Execute throughput, scalability, and performance testing of client and server componentsAnalyze performance data, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with engineering to resolve issuesPartner with developers to clarify requirements and refine user storiesParticipate in test case reviews and contribute to improving test coverage and qualityWork cross-functionally to investigate defects and drive resolutionCommunicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly and proactivelyContribute to continuous improvement of test strategies, tools, and processesProtect the security and privacy of Absolute and its customersOther duties as assigned by managementWhat You'll Bring Required Qualifications2+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and test methodologiesExperience testing client/server applicationsFoundational knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshootingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage and prioritize work with limited guidanceStrong communication and collaboration skills Preferred QualificationsExperience with performance or throughput testingFamiliarity with Windows Server environments and virtualization (e.g., VMware)Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWSExperience with test automation or scripting (e.g., Python, Groovy, PowerShell)Experience testing across multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS)Knowledge of networking protocols, VPNs, or secure access technologies The base pay range The base salary range for this position is $86,200 - $97,020 annually. The base pay offered is determined by the market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
