*Job Summary*
We are seeking a dynamic Materials Testing Engineer specializing in Polymers and Plastics to join our innovative R&D team. In this role, you will drive material characterization, testing, and analysis to support product development and quality assurance. Your expertise will help advance our cutting-edge polymer solutions while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellence in materials engineering.
*Responsibilities*
* Conduct comprehensive material testing on polymers and plastics, including mechanical, chemical, thermal, and analytical evaluations.
* Perform material selection and characterization to optimize product performance and sustainability goals.
* Develop detailed test plans and protocols aligned with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards.
* Utilize CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other 3D modeling tools to assist in product design and process development.
* Analyze engineering data through statistical methods to support research & development initiatives.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, process engineering, and quality control to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
* Maintain laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry regulations during testing procedures.
*Requirements*
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field with hands-on experience in polymers or plastics.
* Proven expertise in material testing techniques such as tensile, impact, thermal analysis (DSC/TGA), spectroscopy (FTIR), and microscopy.
* Strong knowledge of polymer properties, fabrication processes like injection molding and blow molding, and plastics processing techniques.
* Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling related to product design.
* Experience with manufacturing environments including quality control practices and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
* Familiarity with statistical analysis tools for research data interpretation.
* Excellent cross-functional communication skills to coordinate effectively across teams involved in R&D and production.
