Maintenance Assistant
DescriptionJob Title: Building Maintenance AssistantTime commitment: 20-24 hours per weekReports to: Executive DirectorStatus: Full-time, exemptPay: $17.00 hourThe maintenance assistant will work directly with the Maintenance Director to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and appealing to students and visitors. This will include general cleanliness, maintenance, painting, and other projects as assigned.Duties And ResponsibilitiesAble to lift up to 70 lbs regularlyVarious painting projectsScraping sidewalks of ice/snow and salting (dumpster area as well)Clogged toilet or sink and basic bathroom/kitchen plumbingLandscape maintenance not done by contractorFixing living spaces and office spaces as needed or scheduling professionals as needed (cabinets, fridges, etc.)Apartment appliance maintenance and upkeepCoordinate apartment cleaning monthly, between crew and staffClean supply areas and janitorial areasParking lot maintenance and upkeep along with cleaning dumpster area regularlyChange out smoke alarm batteries on rotation rather than when beepingService locks and panic bars for smooth operationOperate machinery for maintenance (ie: lawn trimmer, mower, scissor lift, vehicles, etc)Replace ceiling tiles that are soiled or discoloredCertifications / fire drills, maintenance / chemical SDS emergency bookFloor maintenancePower washingAble to be performed without supervision (with minimal training) and with a final outcome that is typical of a new buildingA self-starter and hard workerSafely climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time, sit, stand, lay down and stand back up as part of daily routineRequirementsQualifications:Building maintenance of commercial building PreferredExperience with Commercial Trades - HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, etc.Commercial Building MaintenanceHousekeeping ExperienceAbility to work alone and with othersOrganizational skills to identify and complete the highest priorityWillingness to learn and adjust as neededBackground check is mandatory.
