Job Information LOCATION OF (1) POSITION TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, TURNEY CENTER INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, HICKMAN COUNTY QualificationsEducation and Experience: Graduation from an accredited technical institute or vocational school with a degree in fire protection engineering technology, fire science, engineering technology, construction management, or related acceptable field and experience equivalent to two years of responsible full-time fire prevention, safety inspection, or technical plans review work including at least one year of fire safety inspection work.Substitution of Education for Experience: A dditional coursework at an accredited college or university in fire prevention or fire science may be substituted for the required non-specialized experience on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year.Substitution of Experience for Education: Q ualifying full-time experience in one of the above areas may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.Necessary Special QualificationsA valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.Professional Safety Certifications may be required for employment in some positions.Examination Method: Education and Experience,100%, for Preferred Service positions.OverviewSummary: Under general supervision, is responsible for facilities safety lead work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required.Distinguishing Features: T his is the lead class in the Facilities Safety Officer series. An employee in this class is responsible for leading subordinate facilities safety officers or in performing facility safety work for the largest facilities by conducting inspections of new and existing buildings, flammable liquids and explosive storage facilities and delivery vehicles. Work involves conducting complex and difficult fire safety inspections and participating in training subordinate staff in proper inspection procedures, practices, and techniques.
