Rail Operator - DIST (USA)

PURPOSE OF ROLE:Primarily responsible for moving railcars within the yard, positioning them for loading, and unloading using the specific equipment. The role is to ensure the efficient movement of railcars within the yard while adhering to safety guidelines and operational standards. They must communicate effectively with other yard personnel and ensure the proper alignment of railcars and tracks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Trained in operating the specific equipment for the movements (Rail King) along with the safety and operating proceduresInspecting tracks and equipment for safety hazardsWorks in conjunction with the Rail Lead to complete intra-yard railcar switches to supplement TGSMonitors railcar placement in Ravago's yard and reports railcar activity and locations back to the Rail ManagerBack up to the Lead and switchmanCoordinates with Rail Lead to ensure rail equipment is kept in working conditionExecute assignments in an accurate, timely, and safe mannerSupport the blending and packaging operations during any downtime by connecting hoses, collecting samples, building boxes, etc.Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Rail Manager or Operations Manager.KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCEMinimum 2 years rail operations experience, including experience operating a locomotiveFunctional understanding of the processes, procedures, and safety requirements necessary for working in a rail yard and operating a locomotive.Experience using railcar management and warehouse management systems a plusProficient computer skillsExcellent communication skillsGood math, language, and reading skillsFunctional knowledge of a warehouse environmentConsiderate and respectful to coworkersAble to follow instructions given for daily tasksEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma/GEDPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:A variety of standing, sitting and walking is required throughout the day, including extended periods of time working outside on your feetAbility to operate heavy machinery and equipmentAbility to work in a fast paced warehouse settingLOCATION:Ravago Americas, Baytown, TX
