Financial Accounting Manager
The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the company’s financial reporting function, ensuring the timely, accurate, and complete preparation of financial statements in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.This role serves as a key leader within the finance organization, overseeing the close and consolidation process, maintaining a strong internal control environment, and ensuring the integrity of financial data. The position also partners with finance and business leaders to provide clear visibility into financial results, key drivers, and emerging risks.In addition to core reporting responsibilities, this individual will play a critical role in strengthening processes, systems, and data quality to support the company’s continued growth and operational complexity.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Reporting & CloseLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes across all business unitsEnsure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages for executive leadership, Board of Directors, and external stakeholdersMaintain responsibility for the general ledger and financial reporting system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of dataSystems & Data IntegrityOversee the integrity and structure of the general ledger, including account design, entity setup, and reporting hierarchiesMaintain strong working knowledge of key sub-ledgers (A/P, purchasing, inventory, fixed assets, sales order) and their integration with the general ledgerDrive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting capabilities, and data quality, including automation and standardization effortsControls & ComplianceEnsure a robust internal control environment over financial reporting, including documentation, compliance, and ongoing process improvementSupport the annual external audit process, including coordination of audit requests and preparation of required financial schedulesAssist in maintaining and enhancing accounting policies, procedures, and governance practicesBusiness Support & Financial InsightProvide financial visibility and insight from reported results to support understanding of performance drivers, trends, and risksPartner with finance leadership to support business needs through accurate and relevant financial informationSupport the annual budgeting process through financial data, consolidation, and reporting accuracyTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop the financial reporting team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growthProvide direction, prioritization, and oversight to ensure high-quality output and efficient processesBuild organizational capability in technical accounting, reporting, and systems expertiseProjects & Continuous ImprovementLead and support special projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and integration of new business activitiesIdentify and implement process efficiencies and improvements across financial reporting and close activitiesSupport organizational initiatives related to growth, acquisitions, and finance transformationSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES/DIRECT REPORTSThis role has three direct reports: Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets, Staff Accountant – Sales & Use Tax and Financial Accounting Supervisor.TRAVELLess than 5%.QUALIFICATIONS7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a manufacturing environment3+ years of leadership or supervisory experienceCPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferredStrong knowledge of financial reporting, consolidation, and internal controlsExperience with ERP systems (JDE preferred) and financial reporting toolsDemonstrated ability to lead teams, improve processes, and operate in a dynamic environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailDemonstrated ability to lead through change and drive continuous improvementEffective communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information clearly to stakeholdersStrong organizational and prioritization skillsCollaborative mindset with the ability to partner across functionsSelf-directed with a high level of accountability and ownershipVOLLRATH'S CORE VALUESTake Ownership: Our intention is to match our actions with our words, building trust with others.
