IntroductionWhat is an Apprenticeship?IBM Apprenticeship Program is an official registered apprenticeship recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL).Every graduate of a Registered Apprenticeship program receives a nationally recognized credential from the DOL.During the apprenticeship duration, you will be required to complete specific learning hours and on the job training thathas been outlined to ensure you are developing the skills and competencies essential to the role. You will be able tolearn and grow at your own pace, but we expect most apprentices will complete their learning within 12 months. Onceyou graduate and receive your certificate from our apprentice program, you will be eligible to apply to available full-time roles at IBM.Who you areAn apprenticeship is about learning. You'll go through your first few weeks together,learning about IBM and the skills you'll be attaining throughout your apprenticeship. Then, you'll work with yourmanagers and mentors to progress through your personal skills roadmap, learning and demonstrating new knowledgeand competencies through hands-on application with your project teams.This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.Relocation assistance is not available.Your Role And ResponsibilitiesAs an Infrastructure Lab Technician Apprentice at IBM, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge andexperience using the latest tools and technologies to support IBM processors, storage or other semiconductor hardware.Throughout your apprenticeship, you will work closely with experienced engineers, technicians and other mentors in aproduction and/or development hardware raised floor environment to maintain all specific hardware related to the IBMInfrastructure Group.Where applicable, you will be taught all day-to-day activities/responsibilities of a hardware raised floor environment onmultiple different Infrastructure specific raised floors. This work will be physical hands on in nature with some liftingand physical dexterity requirements. You will also learn and be responsible for a variety of lab safety proceduresrelevant to the specific raised floor environment, as well as learning and utilizing the specific hardware life cycleworkload applications. To that end, you will be trained and expected to certify via testing in all specificresponsibilities. Specific to the hardware life cycle, you will be expected to rack, stack, cable (power and network),new hardware, as well as un-rack and pack old hardware and cabling.Preferred EducationAssociate's Degree/College DiplomaRequired Technical And Professional ExpertiseRequired Technical and Professional Expertise Willingness to complete the requirements of the apprenticeship program High School Diploma or GED Some knowledge or experience with any of the following:Physical computer hardware installationWorkstation problem and change tools for workload tracking, PC basedMust be able to team lift large hardware unitsMust be able to work in fast paced physically demanding environmentPreferred Technical And Professional Experience - NoneRequired Education - High School Diploma/GED
