As a minister and staff member, it is not only what we do, it is also who we are.Purpose Statement:The Track and Field Coach is responsible for glorifying God mentoring, training, and disciplining student-athletes with integrity and excellence.Scope: The Track and Field Coach cultivates relationships with all stakeholders to create the healthiest environment possible for the development and discipleship of student-athletes.Specific Responsibilities: Develop and cultivate relationships with:Student-athletes and their familiesOpposing school cross-country programs and their coaches.Create, execute and effectively communicate practice plans.Cultivate a positive Christian culture in the Track and field program.Create a team schedule with other schools.Disciple young men and women, demonstrate a commitment to excellence and display character at all times Execute a coaching plan Attend Coaches meetingsBe accountable for personal growth as well as church, outreach, and familyContinuing education and mastery of the sport (i.e. running strategies)Assist with field/weight room/locker room set up and break downCounseling resources for the playersQualifications/Skills/Gifts: A strong personal commitment to Jesus ChristA strong commitment to the philosophies and Statement of Faith of Calvary ChapelExcellent communication skillsA good working relationship with children, parents, and staffAble to control emotions; slow to angerAble to remain calm and organized during busy schedulesSpiritually matureAble to counsel, comfort, and offer support to studentsAble to maintain order and structure in a large group of childrenGifts of leadership, organization, and serviceWillingness to submit to authorityEnthusiastic and positive attitudeGenuine love for our student-athletes and each other3 years minimum experience as a Track and Field Coach and/or college or professional playing experience preferredVerifiable history of mentoring and spiritual investment in former and/or current playersImpeccable reputation in the sports community at all levels (youth, high school, college, etc.)Must be able to lift 40 poundsWork Schedule:Weekdays: In-Season 5 afternoons per weekSundays: OFFOn occasion, there is a need to attend to duties outside of normal working hours. Those circumstances will be communicated in advance and will be compensated accordingly or flex time permitted.
