Quality Control TechnicianEMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON COMPLETING AND PASSING PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe Quality Control Technician (QCT) is responsible for product quality, safety and legality. They do this by following established procedures, taking action to correct problems, and maintaining quality assurance documentation. The QCT is responsible for identifying quality deficiencies and taking action to correct them. The QCT reports to the Quality Control Manager daily. This position acts as a liaison with other divisions and works effectively and cooperatively with the other QCT(s). This position shares responsibility for maintaining Pasta Montana's food safety, quality and legality program under the BRCGS guidelines.Pasta Montana employees are expected to maintain a positive work atmosphere through communication and behaving in a manner that is courteous and respectful to all customers, vendors, contractors, co-workers, leads and management.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Ensures overall product quality and product safety.Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).Analyzes all product and ingredients accurately by following established procedures.Performs frequent line checks to assist in the assurance of product quality, safety and legality (including metal detection, weight checks, date printing, tailing inspection in the semolina handling system, correct production and correct packaging). Stops production and/or packaging in the event of substandard product quality, safety, or legality.Assists in final product shipment decisions and puts products on hold in the event of substandard quality, safety or legality.Always maintains quality control lab in a clean and orderly condition.Identifies product problems, is involved in problem solving and takes action to correct problems.Responds to customer requirements in a professional and timely manner.Provides and maintains customer documentation (certification sheet, analytical report, etc.).Maintains all standards, documentation and quality checks per British Retail Consortium Global Standards (BRCGS) guidelines.Provides documentation for quality control systems concerning HACCP, BRCGS, and GMP programs, as well as computerized quality data systems.Maintains daily test result reports to the Quality Control Manager and assists other Quality Control Technicians.Communicate effectively with all departments.Maintains a safe work environment.Maintains a positive working relationship with all co-workers, Leads and Managers.Strives for Continuous Improvement.Attend meetings and trainings as assigned by the Quality Control Manager.Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Control Manager.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education: Two years post-secondary education or equivalent experience.Minimum Experience: One-years' experience in food processing plant or food handling.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of the quality and analytical methods of pasta production, ingredients and raw materials is helpful. Some understanding of pasta production theory, knowledge of food safety requirements, GMPs, HACCP, and BRCGS. Superior decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Able to identify quality deficiencies and assist in correcting them. Able to function as a motivated team member in a highly dynamic environment. Able to work and communicate effectively in a team setting. Able to learn, troubleshoot and multi-task. Proficient written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
