Bus Monitor - Application Pool

Cape Girardeau Public Schools is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Bus Monitor. This position will care for students with special needs and assist the bus driver in monitoring student behavior and conduct.Essential Functions and Duties:Ride the bus at all appointed times.Display ethical and professional behavior when working with the students, school personnel, and parents.Assist children on and off the bus in a safe manner.Maintain good student conduct on the bus.Ensure the safety of students on the bus by preventing/stopping/reporting inappropriate behavior.Provide written records of inappropriate student behavior to the building principal.Distribute notes and information to parents when directed by building principal or supervisor.Protect confidentiality of students, written, and oral information gained as part of job duties.Attend and participate in any required in-service or required meetings.Additional Essential Functions and Duties for SPED Bus Monitor:Assist disabled students on and off the bus according to IEP.Assist children in buckling and unbuckling safety belts, safety harness, or car seat.Assist the driver in securing wheelchairs safely.Physical Requirements:This position requires standing, walking, and ascending/descending up to six (6) steps.Additional Physical Requirements for SPED Bus Monitor:
