Sales Manager REMOTE + 60% TRAVELSummaryReporting to the Regional Sales Director, the Sales Manager is responsible for developing sustainable and profitable business across the Eastern United States. This role focuses on managing the full sales cycle for complex, high-technology solutions, identifying and converting new opportunities, understanding customer needs, and achieving targets for revenue, order intake, growth, and profitability.This is a remote, home-office-based position with travel up to 60% throughout the East Coast territory.TerritoryEastern United States, including New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Tennessee, and GeorgiaKey ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales Performance• Define and execute a territory sales plan aligned with regional and global strategy• Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities within target markets• Manage a robust and realistic sales pipeline to achieve annual targets• Lead commercial negotiations and prepare quotations and contracts• Drive order intake growth while maintaining margin and profitabilityCustomer & Project Management• Serve as the primary commercial and technical interface for customers• Develop long-term, trust-based relationships with key accounts• Manage complex, project-based sales from opportunity through contract execution• Coordinate with internal teams including applications, service, marketing, and operations• Ensure alignment between customer expectations and internal deliveryMarket Intelligence & Strategy• Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity• Provide insights on pricing, positioning, and opportunity development• Support marketing initiatives, product launches, and promotional effortsForecasting & Reporting• Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and forecasting in CRM systems• Deliver reliable monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts• Prepare activity and performance reports for leadershipCompliance & Ethics• Conduct all business in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations• Adhere to anti-corruption standards and ethical business practicesRequired Experience & Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical field• Minimum 5+ years of technical sales experience in scientific capital equipment• Proven experience selling high-value, complex instrumentation (typically $1M+ deals)• Experience working with academic, government, and industrial research institutions (required)• Strong understanding of materials science, semiconductor, or geoscience applications• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences• Demonstrated success managing long, consultative sales cycles• Strong commercial, negotiation, and communication skills• Highly autonomous, results-driven, and customer-focused• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%)Compensation & Benefits• Competitive base salary + Sales Incentive Plan (SIP)• 401(k) with 4–5% employer match• Medical, Dental, Vision coverage• Health Savings Account (HSA)• Tuition reimbursement• Gym membership reimbursement• Employee Assistance Program• Life and Disability InsuranceTime Off & Flexibility• 3–4 weeks of paid time off• 10 paid holidays + 3 floating holidays• Flexible schedule• Remote work environmentCultureThis team operates in a high-trust, performance-driven environment that is both collaborative and supportive.
