Review plans and specifications to gain familiarity with theprojects prior to inspection. Perform assigned field inspections to examine and evaluate thebuilding, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work performed andmaterials used and verify quality of workmanship, quality ofmaterials used, and compliance with plans, specifications,estimates, and applicable codes and regulations. Identify, document, and communicate deficiencies and deviations fromplans and refer problems, conflicts, and non-compliance issues tosupervisor. Interpret state and County building and safety codes, issuecorrection notices, and meet with contractors and homeowners todiscuss project issues and concerns. Monitor projects for compliance with code requirements and approvedbuilding plans and materials and maintain communication withbuilders and homeowners on residential inspection projects. Maintain and update inspection records, project documentation, andproject files and update building permit and inspection trackingdatabase. Research and study state and local building and safety codes andstandards. Provide information to the general public in matters relating toConstruction And Code Requirements And Other Applicable Ordinances. Enforce safety rules and regulations and investigate and resolvepublic complaints. Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customerrecords and restricted County information. Perform other related duties as required.Minimum Requirements To Perform Work High school diploma or GED equivalent. Three (3) years of journey-level general construction experience ofwhich one (1) year of experience must be in code enforcement orinspection. International Code Council (ICC) Residential Building Inspector(IRC) or Commercial Building Inspector (IBC) certification isrequired within one (1) year of hire. Arizona residents must have a valid Arizona Drivers License uponhire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30days of hire. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experiencemay substitutefor minimum education and work experience. Nosubstitutions for certificationrequirements.Special Requirements All required certifications must be maintained to remain valid, andare a condition of continued employment.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of Federal, state, and regional building, housing, andtechnical codes and regulations. Knowled e of Federal, state and regional safety precautions, rules,and regulations for construction sites. Knowledge of building construction principles, practices, materials,and methods. Knowledge of methods and techniques of inspecting buildings,structures, and facilities. Skill in interpreting building and safety regulations and comparingthem with plans, maps, and technical specifications. Skill in applying technical knowledge of building trades work, usingsound inspection methods to determine workmanship and materialsquality, and detecting deviations from building and safety codes. Ability to provide advice and consultation on standard constructionmethods and compliance requirements. Ability to follow and enforce safety standards.Physical DemandsThe work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of forceoccasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The workalso requires the ability to balance, climb, crawl crouch, feel, finger,grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, pull,push, stoop, stand, hear, speak, walk, operate motor vehicles and/orheavy equipment, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.**WORK ENVI**
