POSITION SUMMARY
The Dining Specialist is responsible for taking resident food orders and serving them in a safe and timely manner in accordance with the mission, established policies and procedures and guidelines of Arcadia Senior Living.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home like environment for Residents.
2. Creating a positive and high-quality service environment in the dining room and work to meet the needs and expectations of the residents.
3. Follow all standards of proper customer service and implement the appropriate policies and procedures in the Kitchen and Dining room.
4. Knowledgeable in proper operation of dishwasher.
5. Knowledgeable in all equipment used by dining specialists.
6. Comply with proper cleaning and sanitation standards.
7. Comply with disposal of outdated food and beverages.
8. Responsible for proper labeling and dating of opened items.
9. Responsible for taking orders and meet resident and guest expectations in a polite, courteous, and timely manner.
10. Follows industry and Arcadia standards related to proper service etiquette, the timing of soup, salad, desert service and pre-bussing.
11. Follows the Arcadia Culinary Walk-Through guidelines and expectations related to this position.
12. Dining Specialist must understand details of what is being served each meal to ensure proper explanation to each resident.
13. Must learn and comply with resident’s allergy/diet restrictions, likes and dislikes as directed by your supervisor.
14. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and service area that runs smoothly.
15. Preparing and stocking as directed.
16. Work directly with the Director of Culinary Services on a daily basis.
17. Responsible for rearranging tables and placement and removal of daily linens in the dining room as directed.
18. Responsible to reset dining room after each meal and set each table following Arcadia guidelines.
19. Maintain appearance of bistro dining room as “Tour Ready”. This includes mopping the floor and/or vacuuming in-between meals, cleaning dining room glass doors where applicable, dusting as needed etc. and other duties as assigned or listed.
20. Responsible for taking part in any resident activities needed as a dining specialist.
21. Knowledgeable of location of menus, function sheets, and weekly calendars. Must insert new weekly menus in each menu jacket and as needed if changes occur and replace them on each tabletop.
22. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
23. Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
24. Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency procedures.
25. Encouraged to have Servsafe Certification.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Lifting and moving furniture and equipment with assistance.
· Continuous standing, using hands, reaching, climbing, and balancing.
· Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold.
· Good vision is required.
· Reaching heights of approximately 6 feet and depth of 2 ½ -3 feet
· Must be able to work irregular hours under pressure and stress.
· Must have high level of mobility/flexibility in space provided.
· Be able to lift weight up to approximately 30 lbs.
