DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Deployment Engineer to lead the physical infrastructure deployment and scaling of their cloud platform. This role involves managing new data center builds, hardware deployments, infrastructure expansions, and ensuring deployment quality and readiness across DigitalOcean's growing global infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
Lead deployment workstreams for new data center builds, expansions, hardware rollouts, rack buildouts, and high-density compute infrastructure
Validate vendor and contractor rack and stack work against DigitalOcean design standards, cabling plans, and deployment procedures
Troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, cabling, network-adjacent systems, Linux OS, tooling, and site conditions during deployment windows
Run and interpret LLDP checks, automation scripts, diagnostics, and validation workflows to confirm connectivity and deployment readiness
Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal teams; train engineers and local teams on rack and stack standards and validation workflows
Maintain deployment runbooks, validation workflows, operational procedures, and documentation; update inventory systems like DCTrack and NetBox
What You Need
4+ years of experience deploying, operating, or supporting infrastructure in large-scale data center, cloud, lab, networking, or technical operations environments
Strong understanding of data center infrastructure including compute, networking, storage, GPU hardware, cabling, power, and rack layouts
Strong Linux knowledge and command-line experience, including bash scripting, logs, and diagnostic workflows
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, cabling, Linux OS, network connectivity, optics, and provisioning
Ability to lead deployment workstreams independently, direct contractors and vendors, and drive timely resolution of deployment issues
Valid driver’s license, ability to remain on feet throughout workday, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and availability for domestic and international travel
Nice to Have
Experience working with or supporting liquid-cooled infrastructure
Experience training and developing junior engineers and local site teams
$105,000–$132,000 base salary. Eligible for bonus based on company and individual performance. Equity compensation including equity grants upon hire and Employee Stock Purchase Program participation.
