Legal Affairs Manager & Paralegal for Trade Association (Temporary – ASAP Start)Location: Hybrid, downtown DC, Tuesday-Thursday in office, Monday/Friday work from home.Duration: ASAP for 3- 6 months (estimate)Salary: $50/hWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Manager of Legal Affairs/Paralegal for our client: a major, national trade association. The position will support the Deputy General Counsel. This position is currently a temporary need to provide additional support in the department. This position is an immediate hiring need, and we are seeking candidates who can start as soon as possible.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required; background in law, public policy, political science, or related field preferredAt least 2–5 years of relevant experience (law firm, in-house legal team, government, trade association, or similar)Experience using legal research tools such as Bloomberg Law, Westlaw, LexisNexis, or PACERStrong research, organizational, and multitasking skillsAbility to clearly summarize legal and regulatory information for internal audiencesExcellent attention to detail and experience managing process-heavy workflows (trackers, calendars, coordination)Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft concise, clear materialsExperience supporting projects, events, or cross-functional initiativesProactive, reliable, and able to manage deadlines independentlyInterest in legal, regulatory, or policy issues affecting business preferredThe ideal candidate will bring strong legal research, project coordination, and analytical skills to support litigation tracking, regulatory monitoring, and legal content development.Responsibilities will include:Litigation & Amicus SupportTrack active litigation and amicus matters, including deadlines, filings, and coordination pointsMonitor federal and state dockets and case developmentsConduct legal research using platforms such as Bloomberg LawCoordinate billing and logistics across multiple mattersRegulatory & Policy SupportResearch emerging regulatory and policy issues (e.g., FTC, DOJ, state AG actions)Track rulemakings, enforcement trends, and legislative developmentsAnalyze findings and synthesize into clear, actionable summariesLegal Content & Council SupportLead production of key resources, including Retail Law Updates, Litigation Risk Trackers, and compliance playbooksUse tools such as Bloomberg Law, PACER, and Westlaw to identify trends and relevant casesAnalyze rulings and extract key implications for stakeholdersSupport development of legal content and issue-spotting for programsAssist with agenda development, materials preparation, and coordination for legal councils and working groups
