Middle School Mathematics Teacher
General Purpose
To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate mathematics instructional program in a technology-based learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
ResponsibilitiesCreate a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of their learning that helps foster students intellectual, social and emotional development.Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons and high-quality assessments that align to (MS)2s curriculum and standards.Incorporate into lessons creative, hands-on learning experiences that broaden students exposure and interests, help foster student ingenuity and require application of knowledge and skills acquired through daily instruction.Provide a classroom environment that is visually appealing, rich with resources aligned to curriculum and standards and honors students achievement with current and accurate displays of exemplary student work.Communicate to students to understand their talents, interests and needs and to convey learning expectations and their progress toward meeting those expectations.Communicate regularly with families to identify students talents, interests and needs and update parents regarding students achievements and progress.Collaborate with school-based staff and throughout the (MS)2 community in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions and professional learning designed to enhance students learning experience and increase student achievement.
QualificationsBachelors degree in mathematics or directly related field from an accredited universityExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated mastery of middle-grade mathematics contentOne year of teaching experiencein an urban school setting preferredProven results demonstrating high student achievement and significant growth in mathematicsExperience in teaching Algebra, and pre-algebra
Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in mathematicsSuccessful completion of the Praxis II ExamEvidence of ongoing professional development and/or continuing educationTwo years of teaching experience and results demonstrating high student achievement and significant growthKnowledge of relevant technology, or ability to be trained to efficiently use technology.Current authorization to work in the United States.PI4a2d284fe0cf-37344-39783494
