Senior Electrical Engineer

Senior Electrical Engineer: Position Location: Austin, TXPosition Type: ContractPosition Salary: $75/HR – 90/HR (Depending on Experience)Responsibilities:Work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products.Work with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, alliance partners, and contract manufacturers to define, document, design, deploy and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions.The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system level design.This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, and interface with alliance partners, contract manufacturers and internal personnel to design, deploy and sustain custom solutions worldwide.High visibility role within NI requires daily interaction with NI customers, NI Alliance Partners, NI Sales Teams, NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management.Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining custom solutionsGenerating requirements documents, statements of work and Bills of MaterialsDefining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deploymentSpecifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutionsDirecting support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolutionTraveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectivesRequirements:B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology5+ years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design RoleUS Person (US Citizen or Green Card ) ONLY, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD ClearancesStrong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architectureUnderstanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#)Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles:Sources of measurement errorAppropriate selection of instrumentation and equipmentUnderstanding of schematics and wiring diagramsIntegration of hardware and softwareBill of Materials creation and reviewFamiliarity with CAD and PCB design toolsStatistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R)Hands on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools is preferredKnowledge in Component Supplier Selection and Compliance Certifications (CE, UL, TUV, Etc.) is preferred.Hands on use of NI Hardware Platforms Instruments and use of NI LabVIEW and Test StandLead teams in test and measurement system design
