Dietary AideThe Dietary Aide at Stony Brook University Hospital is an ancillary employee who performs various patient services, including patient visitation, tray assembly, distribution and service, general sanitation, cleaning, and use of kitchen equipment and pantries.
Essential Position: This position is considered "Essential". The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather of other conditions.
Position Details: Local 1199 Union
Pay Rate: $24.23 per hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part-time; Various hour/Various Shifts - Flexibility a must, weekends and holidays required. MUST be available 4-10 pm.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent customer service skills
Must be able to read, write, and speak English, follow written and verbal instructions, and complete simple computational skills
Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
Ability to meet acceptable background check standards
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the healthcare environment
Program/Department Responsibilities:
Deliver meals and nourishments to patients courteously and professionally
Collect trays from patient rooms or units
Exhibit communication skills necessary to interpret age-specific responses in neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Operate and clean equipment per departmental procedures.
Accurately portion and serve food for patients quickly and accurately
Safely transport food carts and equipment throughout the hospital
Accurately inventory and deliver par stock supplies to identified units and clean per departmental procedures.
Essential Physical Requirements*: Typically lifts 20 to 50 lbs.
