Public Safety Technician The Prince William County Sheriff's Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the full-time position of Public Safety Technician in support of the Courts Division. This position entails handling various tasks including, but not limited to, inputting data and retrieving information from the Virginia Criminal Information Center (VCIN) and the National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) database; filing; DNA swab collecting and fingerprinting of juvenile and adults; retrieving property from arrested individuals and securing it; interacting with incarcerated and non-incarcerated individuals to include sex offenders; verifying information for sex offender registry and applicants applying for concealed weapon permits; and providing documentation to courts. In this position, you will report directly to the Sergeant for the Vertical Deployment/LiveScan section. As a Public Safety Technician, you will be interacting with and serving the public daily. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented with excellent customer service skills, and able to successfully work independently. Being collaborative, agile, and capable of supporting various teams if necessary are also a plus. This position may require you to attend and successfully complete three months of Jail Basic training to better prepare you for the tasks this position entails. Preferences: VCIN Certification as a Level A & B Operator Knowledge in the Northern Virginia Regional Information System (NOVARIS) Experience in a law enforcement and/or court services environment Computer savvy in Microsoft Office Suite programs Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Hiring Range: Entry hourly rate range is $21.14 $32.17. This equates to an entry salary range of $43,971.20 $66,913.60. FLSA: Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday Friday (40 hours a week). Special Requirements: The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check and is subject to the following: criminal and credit history check, education and driver license verification check, fingerprinting, and a polygraph examination.
