Ft. Myers, FL - General Superintendent
POSITION SUMMARY:
The General Superintendent provides leadership and oversight for field operations across multiple O-A-K
projects, ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the company’s quality standards. Reporting
to the Director of Operations, this role serves as a senior field leader responsible for supporting
superintendents, monitoring job performance, and maintaining consistency in project delivery. The General
Superintendent collaborates closely with project management, safety, and preconstruction teams to align field
execution with project goals, schedules, and client expectations. This position plays a key role in coaching field
teams, visiting job sites, resolving issues, and reinforcing O-A-K’s commitment to safety, quality, and
operational excellence from preconstruction through warranty.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
People Leadership
Lead, develop, and retain high-performing field teams to ensure operational excellence, accountability,
and alignment with O-A-K’s culture and values.
Set clear expectations for superintendent performance and coach team members in leadership,
communication, and technical expertise.
Provide ongoing mentoring to emerging leaders within field operations to strengthen capability and
support succession planning.
Partner with the Director of Field Operations to ensure staffing levels align with workload demands
and project schedules.
Assist leadership in evaluating current and future workload requirements and
aligning staffing resources accordingly.
Maintain performance documentation and conduct regular performance evaluations, provide real-time
feedback, and recognize strong contributions that exemplify O-A-K’s values.
Field Operations Excellence
Ensure operational excellence across all project phases—from preconstruction through closeout and
warranty—by maintaining consistency, safety, and quality in field execution.
Standardize field practices and documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
Leverage technology and reporting tools to monitor quality performance and track improvement
initiatives.
Promote continuous improvement in construction processes, craftsmanship, and client satisfaction.
Preconstruction
Collaborate with project management and preconstruction teams early in the planning
process to assess project risks and identify potential challenges.
Provide input on team structure, communication protocols, constructability reviews, and
design coordination to ensure field perspectives are incorporated before work begins.
Review and contribute to site logistics, phasing plans, project schedules, and safety planning
to confirm feasibility and alignment with operational best practices.
Construction
Oversee active projects to ensure field operations run safely, efficiently, and in accordance
with O-A-K standards.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess risks, and evaluate adherence to
schedules and quality expectations.
Anticipate and address construction challenges such as labor constraints, material delays, or
sequencing conflicts, guiding teams toward timely and practical solutions.
Maintain accountability for project performance metrics and ensure all field activities comply
with established safety, quality, and documentation standards.
Support project teams in issue resolution and lead coordination with trade partners to sustain
project momentum.
Oversee the creation and upkeep of weekly job report cards in Procore to track progress and
maintain transparency across teams.
Post-Construction
Ensure smooth transition from construction to closeout by monitoring punch-list completion,
documentation, and warranty activities.
Oversee 11-month walkthroughs, evaluate corrective actions, and verify follow-up items are
resolved promptly and thoroughly.
Maintain accountability for client satisfaction throughout the post-construction phase, ensuring
warranty issues are addressed efficiently and lessons learned are communicated to
strengthen future performance.
Quality & Client Experience
Ensure the highest standards of quality, coordination, and client satisfaction are achieved across all
projects.
-Oversee implementation of O-A-K’s quality control program in the field, reinforcing accountability for
adherence to specifications, drawings, and company standards.
Partner with project teams to monitor workmanship, address deficiencies proactively, and promote
continuous improvement.
Maintain strong, transparent communication with clients and stakeholders, conducting site visits as
needed to confirm expectations are met.

Safety & Risk Management
-Champion a culture of safety throughout all field operations by ensuring adherence to O-A-K’s safety
policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
Partner with the Safety Director and project teams to identify potential hazards, conduct inspections,
and enforce corrective actions.
Actively participate in safety audits and committee initiatives to reinforce compliance and continuous
improvement.
Provide leadership during incident reviews and ensure proactive risk mitigation strategies are
implemented across projects.
Maintain accountability for the safety performance of all field teams and trade partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with project management, preconstruction, and executive leadership to ensure alignment
between planning, scheduling, and field execution.
Participate in preconstruction activities, including constructability reviews, logistics planning, and
schedule validation.
Maintain close communication with clients, design partners, and trade contractors to ensure
expectations are understood and achieved.
Serve as a key liaison between field operations and internal departments, ensuring information flows
effectively and decisions are made in support of project and company goals.
Training & Development
Partner with the Director of Field Operations to develop and implement ongoing training programs for
field personnel, ensuring consistency in technical skills, safety awareness, and leadership
development.
Support the continuous improvement of superintendent onboarding, mentorship, and professional
growth.
Maintain a commitment to professional development through participation in industry seminars,
conferences, and leadership training.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Minimal Supervision. Operates with a high level of autonomy and infrequent oversight. Independently
manages workload, makes decisions, and consults with leadership only for particularly complex or critical
issues.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides broad objectives and goals, allowing employees significant autonomy in how they achieve
them. They offer occasional check-ins and support, trusting employees to manage their tasks independently
and make decisions within the established framework.
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of ten years of progressive construction experience, including five years in a superintendent
or field leadership role managing large-scale, complex projects.
Expert level expertise in construction means and methods, scheduling, safety, and quality
management.
Proven experience leading field operations across multiple concurrent projects.
A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is highly preferred;
equivalent field experience may be considered.
