Medical Assistant Coordinator Internal MedicineWe are seeking a highly organized and team-oriented Medical Assistant Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of an outpatient internal medicine clinic. This role ensures efficient patient flow, effective scheduling, and strong team collaboration while maintaining high standards of patient care.Important Location Details:Primary ("home") site: Grosse Pointe Pierson Internal MedicineNote: This site is currently closed for renovations, with an anticipated reopening in Fall/Winter 2026During renovations, staff will rotate between:Henry Ford Hamtramck Clinic (Monday & Tuesday)Henry Ford East Jefferson Clinic (WednesdayFriday)Once reopened, the position will be based in Grosse PointeSchedule: Current Hours:MondayWednesday: 8:00 AM 5:00 PMThursday: 8:00 AM 2:00 PMFriday: 7:00 AM 4:00 PM3rd Saturday of the month: 7:00 AM 11:00 AM (as needed)Future Schedule (subject to change upon reopening):MondayThursday: 7:30 AM 4:00 PMFriday: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM2nd Saturday of the month: 7:00 AM 11:00 AM (as needed)No Sundays or holidaysKey Responsibilities:Oversee daily clinic operations to ensure efficiency and continuity of careCoordinate patient scheduling and staff assignmentsSupport providers and cover clinical needs throughout the dayPerform clinical duties including injections and immunizations (e.g., flu shots)Assist with coverage for lunches, provider support, and staff time offMonitor and manage medical and office suppliesFoster a positive, team-oriented work environmentQualifications:Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant program OR minimum of 5 years continuous Medical Assistant experience with verified clinical skillsCompletion of a clinical externshipMinimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experienceStrong clinical skills in ambulatory care settingsBasic computer and keyboarding proficiencySuccessful completion of HFMG pharmacology class and test (or willingness to complete)What We're Looking For:Excellent attendance and strong work ethicHighly organized and dependableProfessional, accountable, and patient-focusedTeam player who supports colleagues as neededExperience in team building and promoting a positive work environmentEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) orAccrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) Medical Assistant Program or graduate of a formal medical assistant program with a minimum of five years continuous work as Medical Assistant with verifiable clinical experience.Completion of a clinical externship.Two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant.Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care.Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.Successful completion of Henry Ford Medical Group (HFMG) pharmacology class and test.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:Current BLS-C certificate. One of the following is required.Failure retain certification/registration will result in termination from employment with HFHS:Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) eligible for Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) orRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist organization (AMT) orCertification by the National Healthcare Association (NHA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), orCertification from the National Center for Competency Testing (CCT), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA).
