Design Engineer Intern

A Design Engineer Intern with Toyota Automated Logistics collaborates with coworkers, customers, and suppliers to utilize the latest technologies while creating equipment design for integration into distribution, production solutions and other material handling components/units. This involves understanding the customer’s goals and objectives in order to develop and support smart engineered solutions.This position is an on-site full time internship in Greenfield IN. The team will consider candidates outside of the Central Indiana /Indianapolis area, but this internship DOES NOT have any stipend/living assistance to help off-set living expenses if you're currently not residing in Central Indiana/Indianapolis area.Job DutiesModify, critique, and release equipment designs per customer and Toyota Automated Logistics specifications and standards Collaborate with Automation, Controls, or Commissioning engineers to create 3D layouts for system studiesCreate detailed installation and layout drawingsTroubleshoot and modify manufactured equipment, creating red line drawings, updating SolidWorks models and drawings to create As-Built packages prior to shipmentEffectively communicate schedules, design concepts, and training to personnel at Toyota Automated Logistics and end user facilitiesCreate and modify mechanical manuals, preventative maintenance schedules and tasks, and troubleshooting guidesAttend training and become certified in applicable technologies or programsBe a team member and contributor within the office, providing help outside of department scope when requiredDeliver projects that meet or exceed customer’s expectations, developing repeat customersAttend meetings and functions on time with active involvementResearch new components and materials, providing recommendations for adoption into standardsCoordinate with other engineers or teams to ensure all components are accounted for across disciplinesSupport project installations and post-startup mechanical maintenance tripsPosition will be onsite at our Custom Automation plant in Greenfield, INTravelLess than 5% travel (travel expense paid by company)Preferred Skills & QualificationsBachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Technology highly preferredTechnical writing and documentation experience is highly preferredMicrosoft Office products experienceAutoCAD experienceSolidWorks experienceMust be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.About Toyota Automated LogisticsToyota Automated Logistics is your global partner for integrated warehouse automation.
