Manager, Business DevelopmentMust live locally. - 3 days in office 2 from home.Seeking a strategic and collaborative Manager, Business Development to support our M&A and Corporate practices in our Washington, D.C. office. This role partners closely with senior leadership and attorneys to drive business development initiatives, strengthen client relationships, and elevate the firm’s market presence across transactional practices.The ideal candidate is a proactive professional with strong law firm business development experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple high-profile initiatives in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Strategic GrowthLead and execute marketing and business development initiatives for transactional practice groups, including client targeting programs and pursuit teamsDevelop high-quality pitches, proposals, presentations, capability statements, and marketing materials tailored to prospective clientsManage sales pipeline activity and support attorneys with lead development, pitching strategy, and follow-upIdentify cross-practice and cross-regional opportunities to drive client growth and collaborationMaintain accurate practice experience and business development data within Firm systems and CRM platformsStrategic Planning & Market IntelligenceCollaborate with senior business development leadership to implement strategic plans and track progress against business objectivesCoordinate market research, competitive intelligence, and client briefings in preparation for meetings, pitches, and eventsProfile Raising & Thought LeadershipSupport initiatives that enhance the visibility and reputation of the Firm and transactional practices through events, sponsorships, PR, rankings, awards, and social mediaLead legal directory and award submissions, ensuring compelling and accurate practice positioningMonitor market and industry trends and collaborate on client alerts, articles, and related thought leadership contentEvents & Client EngagementManage strategic planning and execution of client events, conferences, and speaking engagementsPrepare attendee analyses and customized materials to maximize engagement opportunitiesTrack post-event follow-up and client activity within CRM systemsLeadership & OperationsProvide oversight, mentorship, and feedback to junior team membersSupport hiring, onboarding, and training initiativesManage resources effectively while maintaining confidentiality and professionalismQualificationsBachelor’s degree requiredCandidate must have large law firm experience. Minimum of 750 attorneys.Minimum 7 years of business development and marketing experience within a law firm environmentExperience supporting transactional, corporate, or M&A practices strongly preferredStrong proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), and business development technologiesExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong project management and organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environmentHigh emotional intelligence, professionalism, and stakeholder management skillsFlexibility to travel occasionally and adjust hours as business needs require
