Flight Sciences Systems Engineer
Job Description
LockheedMartinSpace designs and operates spacecraft, launch‑vehicle avionics, and scientific payloads that must execute precise trajectories, maintain stable attitudes, and perform autonomous maneuvers in the space environment. The Flight‑Sciences Systems Engineer is the technical bridge between flight‑dynamics theory and the hardware/software that implements it. You will develop the models, algorithms, and analysis tools that predict vehicle behavior, generate guidance commands, and certify flight‑software performance for a variety of missions (e.g., orbit insertion, lunar descent, formation‑flying constellations, re‑entry).
Basic Qualifications
Strong grasp of orbital mechanics, rigid‑body dynamics, and flexible‑body effects.
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, STK, and a high‑level programming language (C/C++, Python).
Experience with estimation/filter design (Kalman, EKF, UKF, particle filters).
Required Experience & Credentials
2+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree.
An active Secret security clearance or higher.
Ability to work onsite in one of the following locations: Littleton, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Sunnyvale, CA; Huntsville, AL.
