We are seeking a driven, hands-on Multifamily Asset Manager with deep experience in affordable housing and distressed assets. This role is responsible for overseeing the performance, strategy, and execution of a portfolio of multifamily properties, ensuring financial strength, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation.The ideal candidate is a go-getter and self-starter—someone who takes ownership, pushes initiatives forward without being asked, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and holds partners and operators accountable to results.Key ResponsibilitiesAsset Oversight & PerformanceOversee day-to-day and long-term performance of a multifamily portfolio, with emphasis on affordable and distressed assetsDevelop and execute asset-level business plans, turnaround strategies, and value-add initiativesMonitor financial performance including budgets, forecasts, rent rolls, operating statements, and variance analysesDrive NOI growth through operational improvements, expense control, and revenue optimizationAffordable Housing & ComplianceEnsure compliance with applicable affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, bond-financed assets, etc.)Coordinate with property management and compliance teams to address audits, reporting, and regulatory requirementsIdentify risks and proactively resolve compliance or operational issuesProperty Management & Vendor ManagementOversee third-party property management companies and internal teamsSet clear expectations, KPIs, and timelines—and hold teams accountable for executionReview staffing plans, leasing performance, maintenance operations, and capital projectsManage vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost controlCapital Projects & Distressed Asset ExecutionOversee capital improvement plans, rehab scopes, and turnaround initiativesTrack project budgets, schedules, and outcomesIdentify distressed asset challenges early and implement corrective action plansCommunication & CollaborationServe as a central point of coordination between ownership, property management, accounting, construction, and leadershipProvide clear, timely reporting and recommendations to stakeholdersAct as a team player while maintaining firm accountability and performance standardsQualifications3–7+ years of experience in multifamily asset managementDemonstrated experience with affordable housing and/or distressed assets requiredStrong understanding of multifamily operations, financial analysis, and real estate fundamentalsExperience overseeing third-party property management companiesAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProven self-starter who takes initiative and drives results without constant oversightStrong communication skills with the confidence to challenge underperformance constructivelyHigh level of organization, follow-through, and attention to detailKey Traits for SuccessGo-getter mindset with a bias toward actionComfortable holding others accountable while remaining collaborativeProblem-solver who thrives in complex or distressed situationsTeam-oriented but unafraid to make tough decisionsResults-driven with strong ownership mentality
