Software Engineer - Forward Deployed

Role: Forward-Deployed AI Engineer — National SecurityLocation: Washington, DC, NYC or Seattle Compensation: $180K–$235K + Equity Clearance: Secret or higherWe’re partnering with a fast-growing defense technology company building mission-critical software used in real-world operational environments. They’re looking for Forward Deployed Software Engineers who thrive in high-ownership roles and want to solve complex challenges directly alongside end users.This is not a traditional software engineering role. You’ll work at the intersection of product, engineering, and operations—deploying solutions in the field, collaborating directly with military stakeholders, and building systems that have immediate operational impact.What You’ll Be Doing:• Designing and deploying full-stack software solutions in demanding environments• Working directly with end users to understand operational challenges and deliver practical solutions• Owning projects end-to-end—from prototype through deployment and iteration• Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and design teams to ship scalable systems fast• Improving reliability, performance, and usability through continuous iteration and field feedback• Traveling to support deployments, testing, and customer success in operational settingsWhat you need:• 2–6 years of experience in software engineering• Strong full-stack engineering capabilities• Experience in customer-facing or forward deployed engineering environments preferred• Ability to operate autonomously in fast-paced, ambiguous environments• Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, execution-focused mindsetIf you’re excited by high-impact engineering work, close customer collaboration, and solving mission-critical problems at speed, we’d love to hear from you.
