Design Engineer
The Design Engineer for INTEGRA’s Engineered Products division will serve as a technical leader responsible for advanced engineering design, development of innovative mechanical and hydro mechanical solutions, and technical oversight across a broad portfolio of engineered products. This role works directly with customer engineering teams to define application requirements, lead conceptual and detailed design activities, and validate technical solutions through analysis and testing.The Design Engineer acts as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting strategic business development initiatives. This position receives strategic direction from the Engineered Products General Manager and collaborates with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and sales teams.Roles Responsibilities: Engineering & Technical LeadershipOwns major mechanical designs from concept through production, ensuring all requirements, constraints, and trade-offs are fully addressed.Applies strong first‑principles engineering to derive solutions through analytical reasoning rather than relying solely on software tools.Performs stress and fatigue analysis, tolerance analysis, and material selection to ensure robust and reliable designs.Provides technical oversight to ensure engineering accuracy, design integrity, and compliance with specifications.Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging engineering technologies, materials, processes, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.CAD, Analysis & DocumentationCreates efficient and detailed CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks preferred) with strong proficiency in GD&T.Conducts finite element analysis (FEA) to validate structural performance and guide design decisions.Generates clear, accurate engineering documentation, ensuring traceability and alignment with internal standards.Design for Manufacturing (DFM)Designs components and assemblies optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and cost efficiency.Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to apply appropriate manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, casting, and fabrication.Understands typical manufacturing tolerances and ensures designs align with realistic production capabilities.Identifies opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining performance and quality.Systems ThinkingEvaluates load paths, interfaces, and interdependencies across complex assemblies.Ensures that assembly processes, serviceability, and reliability are factored into design decisions.Assesses cost implications throughout the system to support balanced, well reasoned tradeoffs.Communication, Collaboration & LeadershipMentors’ junior engineers, providing guidance in design methodology, engineering fundamentals, and best practices.Leads design reviews, clearly presenting technical rationale, risks, and recommendations.Communicate effectively with executives, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment across all project phases.Facilitates cross-functional collaboration to support smooth project execution.Engineering Judgment & Tradeoff AnalysisApplies sound engineering judgment to balance competing factors such as cost vs. performance, weight vs. durability, and manufacturability vs. ideal design.Evaluates design risks and makes informed decisions that support program goals and overall product success.Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: · 8–15+ years of design experience· Multiple products released to production· Strong CAD mastery· GD&T proficiency· Manufacturing knowledge· FEA familiarity-Ansys software· Root cause analysis experience· Ability to mentor othersCompany DescriptionINTEGRA Technologies, a Flexitallic company, specializes in leak detection, correction, and prevention for the energy industry through services such as controlled bolting, field machining, and equipment rentals.
