Personal Support Worker

Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and safety. Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, managing medication administration, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals. Support clients during meal preparation and feeding to promote proper nutrition and hydration. Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation and promote mental well-being. Maintain accurate care plans, document patient observations, and adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality. Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers. Perform light cleaning duties within client spaces to maintain a safe, hygienic environment conducive to health and comfort. Qualifications Proven experience working in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia (including Alzheimer’s disease), or memory care needs. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of distress or health deterioration. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and assist with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts. Knowledge of medication administration procedures and familiarity with care plans is essential.
