Penn MachineryHIRING IMMEDIATELYGenerator Field Service TechnicianNewington, CTWe have two openings; one role with preferred Navy Submarine experiencePay: $45.71–$51.44/hourBenefits :UNION Shop!Pension, welfare, annuity, and vacation fundsMedical/dental/vision insurancePaid company holidaysKey qualifications :Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Electric Power Generation, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment (generator, ATS, Switchgear), AC and DC, and diesel engineAdvanced electrical troubleshooting skills, breaker testing, paralleling generators, medium/high voltage, transformers, thermal scan (IR Scan) preferredMust be computer proficient to be able to run diagnostic software and prepare service communicationsMust have strong communication skills and have high self-managementMust be willing to work overtime, including: evenings, holidays, and weekends when neededValid and clean driver’s license required (this position drives a service truck)Responsibilities:Successfully provide service of recognized superior valueTroubleshoot electrical problemsTroubleshoot mechanical problemsEfficiently utilize resources to correct problemsDocument steps taken to correct problemsMaximize the efficient use of service and repair processes to provide fast accurate service and minimize unnecessary expensePlan proper repair procedures for efficiencyEfficiently utilize tooling and technical resourcesContinually improve key processesEffectively communicate status of repair work with supervisorEffectively communicate with customersRepresent the company in a positive, professional mannerCommunicate customers’ options to correct current problemsAdvise customers of cost of repair and collect payment as requiredSuccessfully contribute towards building a culture of safety through completion of all safety initiatives and demonstrating safe work habitsComplete/attend all safety meetings, computer-based safety training, safety audits and other safety training as assignedWork in a proactive, safe manner in compliance with all safety practices, policies and trainingImmediately resolve and/or report all safety issues to supervisorMaintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with all Contamination Control InitiativesQualifications:Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Electric Power Generation, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment (generator, ATS, Switchgear), AC and DC, and diesel engineFor one of these opportunities Navy Submarine experience is highly preferred, (repair, troubleshooting, etc.)Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills, breaker testing, paralleling generators, medium/high voltage, transformers, thermal scan (IR Scan) preferredMust be computer proficient to be able to run diagnostic software and prepare service communicationsMust have strong communication skills and have high self-managementMust be willing to work overtime, including: evenings, holidays, and weekends when neededValid and clean driver’s license required (this position drives a service truck)Physical Requirements:Standing and walking (including on uneven surfaces)Sitting, body rotation, and forward bending (in both sitting and standing positions)Lifting up to 60 lbs.
