Staff Electrical Engineer - Testing

Overview In this role you will lead the hardware test strategy for Vector Atomic’s advanced quantum instrument projects. You’ll collaborate with physicists and engineers across disciplines to define and execute test plans that verify complex electronics, ensuring robust, production-ready verification. You drive test procedures, data systems, and lab execution while mentoring early-career engineers. This position blends leadership with hands-on lab work to accelerate high-precision sensor development and environmental testing at scale. Key requirementsBSEE/MSEE with leadership experience testing precision instruments or sensorsLaboratory environment comfortStrong written and verbal communication; ability to create test plans for novel instrumentationOrganize and manage test results; own data storage and documentationExperience devising testing protocols for precision instruments, including automating tests and documenting proceduresPost-test data analysis to extract performance metricsExperience in designing test loads, cabling, and custom verification equipment; read schematics and datasheets to define measurement rangesProficiency with oscilloscopes, VNA, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, function generators, and DVMAbility to read technical information and define expected measurement rangesSecurity/compliance: US export control eligibility (citizenship or residency)Preferred: PCB layout tools (Altium); test firmware for embedded MCUs; AS9100 knowledge; environmental testing for space electronics (radiation)leadershipeffective communicationmentoringFPGAs, MCUs, mixed-signal, precision analog, photonicsDFT/DFMenvironmental, EMI/EMC testing
