Position Summary
The Sociology program at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for in-person instructional vacancies. The position is primarily intended to serve students at the Lompoc Federal Correctional Institution but may be offered assignments at other locations, as needed. Assignments may be for spring, summer, or fall, and may be day or evening hours. The courses most likely to be assigned to this position are SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology, SOC 110: Introduction to Marriage and Family, and SOC 120 Introduction to Racial and Ethnic Groups. Please note that this is not a remote position. Essential Functions and Qualifications
Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's in Sociology OR Master's in Ethnic Studies OR Master's in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, or American Indian Studies OR Bachelor's in sociology AND Master's in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work or psychology OR the equivalent
