Senior Software Development EngineerWe are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of a scalable web application that will transform how teams interact with robots. You will own significant portions of the system, lead cross-functional initiatives, and set the technical direction for development. This role offers the opportunity to build a greenfield platform from the ground up and directly impact the productivity of thousands of internal users across Amazon. Key job responsibilities include:Define and drive the technical architecture for the frontend applicationMake critical decisions on technology stack, design patterns, and system architectureLead the design and implementation of complex, scalable web application featuresEstablish engineering best practices, coding standards, and development workflowsDrive technical roadmap discussions and influence product strategyBuild high-performance, responsive React applications using modern patternsDesign and implement robust backend services and RESTful APIs to support frontend functionalityArchitect scalable microservices and serverless solutions on AWSEnsure code quality through comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, e2e)Optimize application performance, bundle size, and load timesImplement security best practices and ensure compliance with Amazon standardsMentor and coach engineers at all levels, conducting code reviews and providing technical guidanceLead technical discussions and design reviews with cross-functional stakeholdersCollaborate with product managers and UX designers to translate requirements into technical solutionsDrive operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, and incident responseInfluence engineering culture and contribute to team growthPartner with other teams to ensure system integration and alignmentOwn production systems and ensure high availability and reliabilityImplement monitoring, logging, and observability solutionsLead troubleshooting efforts for complex production issuesDrive continuous improvement initiatives and technical debt reductionBasic Qualifications:5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceExperience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering teamExperience with web services, APIs, REST, SOAP, microservices, SOA, architectureExperience in AWS servicesExperience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJSPreferred Qualifications:7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceMaster's degree in computer science or equivalentExperience with version control systems and CI/CD pipeline implementationExperience in Kubernetes, Docker or containers ecosystemProven experience designing and building scalable web applications and APIsStrong background in AWS servicesAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
