Assistant Deli Manager
Job DescriptionPurposeThe Assistant Deli Manager supports daily deli operations by ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, merchandising, and customer service. This role assists with associate leadership, production execution, and operational readiness while supporting the Deli Manager in meeting sales, shrink, and labor objectives. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport daily deli operations, including food preparation, cooking, slicing, packaging, and merchandisingEnsure proper rotation, dating, temperature control, and food safety complianceAssist with ordering, inventory control, shrink reduction, and out-of-stock preventionMaintain full, attractive hot and cold service cases and grab-and-go displaysExecute promotions, seasonal programs, and value-added deli offeringsEnsure accurate pricing, signage, and portion controlLeadership & Team SupportAssist with training, coaching, and development of Deli associatesHelp assign daily workloads and manage production schedulesProvide real-time feedback and reinforce productivity and quality standardsSupport attendance management and performance accountabilityAssume department leadership responsibilities in the Deli Manager's absenceCustomer ServiceDeliver friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable customer serviceAddress customer questions, special orders, and concerns professionallyPromote deli products, meal solutions, and catering options as applicableOperational & Safety StandardsMaintain cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment readiness at all timesEnsure compliance with food safety, health department, and company standardsFollow all company policies, labor guidelines, safety rules, and asset protection proceduresAssist with inspection readiness and corrective actionsQualificationsPrevious deli, food service, or retail experience preferredSupervisory or lead experience a plusStrong organization, communication, and time-management skillsAbility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to stand, lift, slice, cook, and perform repetitive tasksWorking ConditionsFood production environment with exposure to heat, fryers, ovens, and cold storageFast-paced, hands-on role requiring extended standing and physical activityAbout UsAlbertsons Companies is at the forefront of the revolution in retail. About the TeamPay Transparency:Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans.
