Material Handler

The Material Handler / Shipper-Receiver is a manufacturing floor role responsible for the safe and accurate movement of materials throughout the Meriden facility. This includes receiving inbound shipments, putting away and stocking materials in designated locations, staging and kitting components to support production, and preparing and shipping outbound orders. The role is critical to keeping production supplied and customer orders moving, and requires a high degree of accuracy, physical stamina, and attention to detail.Essential DutiesReceiving & InboundUnload inbound deliveries from carriers; inspect shipments for damage and quantity accuracy.Verify packing lists and purchase orders against received goods; report discrepancies to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.Process receipts in the ERP system; apply labels and route materials to appropriate storage locations.Stage quarantine or non-conforming material per established procedures.Material Movement, Stocking & Put-AwayMove materials throughout the facility using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment.Put away received materials into designated bin locations in the stockroom or warehouse; maintain organized and clearly labeled storage areas.Replenish floor stock and point-of-use locations to support uninterrupted production.Maintain accurate location records within the ERP system; execute cycle counts and support physical inventory.Kitting & StagingPull materials from inventory against work orders, bills of materials (BOMs), and production schedules.Assemble and verify kits for accuracy in quantity, part number, and revision; stage kits at designated production areas.Identify and escalate shortages or substitution needs to the planning or production team.Return unused or excess kit material to inventory and update ERP transactions accordingly.Shipping & OutboundPick, pack, and prepare finished goods and spare part orders for shipment in accordance with customer requirements and shipping instructions.Generate shipping labels, packing lists, and basic carrier documentation; coordinate pickups with freight carriers.Ensure all outbound packages are accurately labeled, weighed, and documented prior to handoff to carrier.Support the Logistics Coordinators with commercial invoices and other export paperwork as needed.GeneralMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S and facility safety standards.Operate material handling equipment safely and report any equipment damage or malfunction.Perform all duties in accordance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.Complete other duties as assigned by supervision.Essential RequirementsAbility to safely lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs with assistance.Comfort working on a manufacturing plant floor environment with standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting, labeling, and documenting materials.Basic computer and data entry skills.Ability to read and interpret work orders, packing lists, BOMs, and shipping documents.Reliable, self-motivated, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.Forklift or pallet jack certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.Additional RequirementsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.Knowledge of 5S, lean, or continuous improvement practices beneficial.Education & Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required.3 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, shipping/receiving or materials handling role.Experience with kitting, picking or staging in a manufacturing environment preferred.Forklift certification a plus.
