The Database Administrator II is a mid-level professional responsible for managing and maintaining relational database systems across on-premise and cloud environments. This role plays a critical part in provisioning, tuning, securing, and supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL databases. MedPro reserves the right to modify any of its benefit plans, programs, and policies, at any time and for any reason, to the extent permitted by applicable law.Independently provision and configure Oracle and PostgreSQL databases for dev, test, and production environmentsPerform database patching, backup and recovery operations, and access control managementMonitor performance metrics, investigate alerts, and perform SQL and instance-level tuningCollaborate with software engineers to support schema changes and performance review cyclesContribute to HA/DR planning, replication setup (e.g., Oracle Data Guard), and environment refresh processesParticipate in capacity planning and regularly assess infrastructure healthBegin contributing to automation of routine administrative tasks using scripts and orchestration toolsJob Qualifications2–4 years of experience administering Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databasesProficiency in SQL and database management tools (e.g., RMAN, OEM, SQL Developer, pgAdmin)Solid understanding of Unix/Linux systems and shell scriptingWorking knowledge of backup/recovery procedures, access control, and schema designPreferred QualificationExperience with Oracle multitenant environments and PostgreSQL replicationExposure to cloud database services (OCI, AWS RDS, Azure Postgres)Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and Git version controlKnowledge of compliance and audit practices related to data securityCore CompetenciesAnalytical thinking and attention to system performance and reliabilityClear documentation and effective cross-functional communicationInitiative to troubleshoot and proactively solve operational problemsAccountability for managing scheduled maintenance, patch windows, and database changesThis role represents a growing depth of expertise and operational responsibility in database administration. The next step in this track is Database Administrator III, where the individual will be expected to handle strategic projects, lead major upgrades, and mentor junior staff.Physical RequirementsExerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.The individual is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen and extensive reading.
