Position Overview1487482Engineer to support digital manufacturing initiatives focused on body production lines, robotic welding, and 3D body weld modeling.This role supports automotive body manufacturing and robotic welding operations through advanced digital engineering tools such as DELMIA, CATIA, and AutoCAD. The engineer will collaborate closely with manufacturing and robotics teams to evaluate welding feasibility, develop 3D concepts, estimate cycle times, and support offline robot teaching activities.This position is ideal for an engineer with hands-on manufacturing experience, strong 3D modeling capabilities, and an interest in digital factory development within automotive production environments.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and lead digital factory updates using DELMIA C3, CATIA, AutoCAD, and MS Office toolsDevelop and maintain 3D body weld models for automotive production linesEvaluate Z1 and Z2 robotic welding processes for feasibility and optimizationEstimate robotic welding cycle times to support manufacturing planningCreate 3D concepts for welding equipment and End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT)Support robotic welding strategies using multiple engineering data formatsPerform offline robot teaching and support onsite robot teaching activitiesCollaborate with engineering teams on body weld model changes and production updatesDevelop documentation supporting digital factory and robotic welding activitiesSupport manufacturing process improvements and continuous improvement initiativesRequired QualificationsMinimum 2+ years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering, robotics, or a related engineering roleExperience working in a manufacturing environmentEngineering degree (Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent work experienceExperience with 3D design/modeling softwaresuch as:CATIADELMIASOLIDWORKSProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skillsStrong understanding of manufacturing processes and robotic applicationsAbility to work cross-functionally within engineering and production teamsPreferred QualificationsAutomotive manufacturing experience, particularly within Body-In-White (BIW) or robotic welding environmentsExperience with robotic welding (spot weld or arc weld)Experience with robotic material handling systemsOffline robot teaching or offline data preparation experienceLaser scanning experienceAutoCAD experienceExperience with MS SharePointVB or VBA programming experienceTransferable 3D modeling experience within mechanical or manufacturing environmentsAdditional DetailsTravel up to 25%, including occasional support across North AmericaSteel toe boots required for plant floor accessOpportunity to work on cutting-edge digital factory and robotics initiatives within automotive manufacturing
