Project Manager - Technical Workstreams

Are you interested in being an agent of change on a team committed to client-focused, mission-driven excellence?Steampunk is seeking a Project Manager to manage delivery execution for data, AI governance, and security/identity-focused workstreams within a large federal advisory program, applying the program/project manager competency standard to an assigned subset of the work. You'll be a client liaison, team coach, and mentor — leading day-to-day project tasking and delivery in a government consulting environment.ContributionsTrack deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and risks for assigned technical workstreams against program-wide SLA standardsApply financial management, acquisition support, and performance measurement practices within the assigned workstreamsPartner with technical subject matter experts and architecture leadership to keep delivery on trackReport workstream status into the integrated schedule and leadership reviewsMaintain results-oriented working relationships with client stakeholders on the assigned workstreamsManage assigned workstream team members, facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot delivery issues, and monitor team performanceAssess the current delivery environment and recommend Agile practices tailored to the workstreamParticipate in and support Agile ceremonies for the assigned workstream, removing blockers to keep delivery on trackEvaluate workstream feasibility, eliminate non-productive tasking, and find ways to accelerate delivery where possibleOffer guidance and recommendations to client stakeholders in challenging situationsSupport staff training and development needs to build skills and career growth within the assigned teamQualificationsAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearanceBachelor's degree5+ years of project management experience, including 5+ years managing projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)PMP or equivalent certificationWorking proficiency in scheduling, performance measurement, and executive reportingAbility to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influenceDemonstrated interpersonal skill coordinating across technical, mission, and stakeholder groups, with flexibility to work across teams, individuals, and executivesExperience working in a complex technical/engineering delivery environmentLocal to the DC Metro AreaPreferred:Experience supporting data, AI governance, or cybersecurity/identity-related deliveryPrior federal contract experienceCertified Scrum MasterAbout steampunkSteampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
