The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in analyzing and reverse-engineering complex Visual Basic (VB6/VB.NET) and C++ applications while translating embedded business logic into structured documentation.The Data Analyst VI performs advanced analytical and business analysis work involving interpretation, validation, and documentation of complex business rules embedded within legacy systems supporting agency operations, compliance, reporting, and modernization projects.Key Responsibilities:Independently analyze complex legacy Visual Basic (VB6/VB.NET) and C++ codebasesReverse-engineer business logic, workflows, calculations, and data transformationsExtract and document business rules into structured, business-readable formatsDevelop and maintain standardized business rule inventoriesCollaborate with business and technical stakeholders for validation and refinementIdentify inconsistencies, gaps, and duplications within legacy system logicServe as liaison between technical teams and business usersSupport modernization and migration initiatives by separating business logic from legacy applicationsRequired Skills:Strong hands-on experience with Visual Basic (VB6 and/or VB.NET)Strong experience with C++ development and analysisProven expertise in reverse-engineering legacy applicationsExperience extracting and documenting business rulesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsWorking knowledge of SQL and data-driven systemsExperience with legacy system modernization or migration projectsBackground in business analysis or systems analysisExperience Working With Education Data PreferredVB and C++ certifications preferredMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in:Data ScienceBusiness AnalyticsComputer ScienceComputer Information SystemsManagement Information SystemsMinimum 2+ years of experience working as a Data Analyst and Modeler in:Data WarehouseData LakeOperational Data StoreSimilar enterprise environmentsMaster’s degree may substitute for two years of required work experienceAdditional Information:Hybrid work schedule: 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days RemoteLocation: Austin, TexasState Government Project Experience PreferredStrong communication and stakeholder coordination skills required
