Senior Director / Managing Director, Index Business Development— U.S. Regional and mid-sized banks

SOFR Academy is seeking a senior index/financial data sales professional to lead commercial engagement with U.S. Regional and mid-sized banks, with a particular focus on treasury, balance sheet management, asset-liability management, and commercial lending teams.The role is designed for a commercially mature individual who understands how banks evaluate reference rates, funding costs, loan pricing, hedging, and benchmark adoption. The successful candidate will help introduce and expand the use of SOFR Academy’s IOSCO aligned benchmark credit spread reference rates across the U.S. regional banking sector in collaboration with the benchmark administrator STOXX Ltd.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:Lead business development and relationship management with U.S. regional and mid-sized banks, particularly treasury, ALM, commercial lending, capital markets, and risk teams.Develop a pipeline of bank prospects and convert institutional interest into commercial adoption.Explain the role of IOSCO aligned benchmark credit spread supplements for SOFR in supporting commercial loan pricing, funding-cost measurement, hedging, and balance sheet management.Work with bank stakeholders to identify use cases for benchmarks in commercial loans, floating-rate notes, derivatives, internal transfer pricing, and financial risk management.Coordinate with senior leadership, product, legal, and external partners to support onboarding and documentation.Gather market feedback from regional banks and translate it into product, methodology, and commercial insights.Represent SOFR Academy in senior client discussions, industry meetings, and selected market outreach initiatives.Ideal CandidateWe are looking for a senior professional with:10–20+ years of relevant experience in institutional sales, bank treasury solutions, rates, credit, index products, commercial lending, or financial data.Strong existing relationships across U.S. regional and mid-sized banks, especially treasury, ALM, commercial lending, or balance sheet management functions.A solid understanding of the Secured Overnight Financial Rate (SOFR), both overnight SOFR published by the Official sector and Term SOFR published by the private sectorA practical understanding of LIBOR transition, bank funding markets, credit spreads, floating-rate loans, and interest-rate hedging.Experience engaging with regulators, official-sector stakeholders, or bank regulatory/compliance teams on matters related to benchmarks, reference rates, bank funding, risk management, or financial market infrastructure.Experience driving adoption of financial products, benchmarks, indices, market data, analytics, or risk-management solutions across bank clients.Credibility with senior bank decision-makers and the ability to explain technical concepts in a commercially relevant way.Ability to monitor market events and themes in order to provide market color or flag opportunities to clientsPassion to drive processes and experience coordinating across client contacts, internal groups, and external advisorsA self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset suited to financial market infrastructure company.Independent thought and willingness to step into additional responsibilities at timesStrong written and verbal communication skills.Preferred BackgroundRelevant prior experience may include roles at:Index providers or benchmark administratorsFinancial data and analytics firmsBank treasury or ALM advisory businessesRates, credit, or structured products sales desksCommercial banking, capital markets, or risk-management teamsFinancial technology or market infrastructure companiesCompensationCompensation will be competitive and may include a combination of base salary, performance-based incentives, and equity participation, depending on experience and fit.
