Location: Berlin, CT (On-Site) - Compensation: Up to $130k (DOE)
We are partnering with a growing financial services organization to identify an Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to work across multiple complex business lines while becoming a key resource for accounting, systems, data analysis, and operational decision-making.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, learning sophisticated ERP systems, partnering with operations, and making a meaningful impact beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to an accounting team of approximately eight professionals
Support month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
Develop expertise in the company's ERP system and operational accounting processes
Analyze large financial and operational data sets to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities
Troubleshoot complex accounting and system-related issues
Partner with leadership to improve reporting, data integrity, and operational processes
Support inventory, operational, contract, lease, and franchise-related accounting activities
Drive process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and stronger internal controls
Participate in cross-functional projects and strategic business initiatives

Ideal Background
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading accounting staff
Strong understanding of general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
Experience working with ERP systems and complex accounting environments
CPA preferred but not required
Backgrounds in financial services, distribution, inventory-intensive businesses, retail, wholesale, real estate, transportation, or operational accounting are highly valued
