As the EHS/CI Manager, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe and healthy working environment. You will support ASPEQ operations primarily based in Missouri. The EHS/CI Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations related to environmental, health and safety, implementing protocols and communications, supporting a strong continuous improvement environment, and providing proactive guidance and direction to ensure safe operations. The successful EHS/CI Manager has a strong understanding of environmental health and safety practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence others and work collaboratively across departments.What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:Compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety RegulationsMonitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to environmental health and safety within the facilityManage federal, state, and local outside agencies for routine safety inspectionsLead local safety and environmental programs and provide direction for facilityStay up to date on federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental health and safety and advise management on emerging trends and changes in regulations, assisting in the implementation of necessary measures to maintain complianceDevelop and oversee incident response plans and proceduresInvestigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to identify root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrenceEnsure proper onsite management and offsite disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous wastes to protect air and water quality and comply with applicable regulationsConduct daily activities including incident review, risk assessment, action item tracking, reporting, 5S/CI events, classroom & virtual training and project trackingWorking with Corporate EHS Director to implement enterprise-wide initiatives.2. Risk AssessmentManage local Safety and Environmental programs and provide direction for each facilityConduct regular inspections and audits for the facility to assess compliance with safety regulations and internal policies; provide recommendations and guidance for corrective actions as neededDevelop and implement safety protocols, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and hazards in the workplaceCollaborate with management to develop and maintain emergency response plans. Conduct drills and exercises to assess the effectiveness of emergency protocols and ensure employees are preparedDrive closure of recommendations to reduce identified risks3. Communication and DocumentationEstablish and implement facility and organizational safety communications to ensure employees are aware of potential hazards and safety initiativesDevelop, deliver, and track environmental and safety training, increase awareness and drive safety practicesMaintain exact records and documentation related to safety programs, incidents, inspections, and training activitiesDevelop, manage, and check monthly metrics and audits for EHS/CIPrepare reports and presentations on safety and continuous improvement performance, trends, and recommendations for managementRegularly communicate with leadership on projects, ongoing issues, and opportunities to reduce risk and waste4. Continuous ImprovementApply Lean principles to evaluate manufacturing processes, equipment, machinery and material flow to identify potential risk as it relates to safetyCollaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate, recommend and implement improvements to processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to enhance workplace safety and reduce wasteChampion initiatives that identify and communicate facility risk exposure and prioritize risk reduction needsManage and lead safety board and safety recognition programsSupport facility-wide continuous improvement and lead efforts to reduce or eliminate solid wastes by reducing process wastes, reusing, and recyclingParticipate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organizationWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:Required ExperienceExperience 5 - 10 years in an environmental health and safety role in a lean manufacturing environmentPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExperience in Lockout/Tag out programs and machine guardingExperience with forklift trainingProven experience managing and implementing projectsIn depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety laws, regulations, and standards (OSHA, EPA)Understanding of manufacturing processes and associated safety hazardsFamiliarity with continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principlesTraining and facilitation experience and capabilityExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex safety concepts to diverse audiencesAnalytical mindset with the proven ability to assess risks, identify trends, interpret operational needs, and recommend appropriate corrective actionsProblem solving and data analysis skillsDemonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and coach stakeholders at varying levels of the organizationStrong organizational and time management skills with the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple project simultaneouslyProficiency in using software applications and tools for safety reporting, data analysis, and documentationStrong PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel, and WordEducation & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferredCertified Safety professional preferredFirst Aid/CPR certification preferredTravel & Working Environment50% Travel - regionally between plant locations in MissouriPlant environment and may be exposed to bad weather, excessive heat and/or noiseHow we live our cultureOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
