Certified HIV Educator and Tester

Individuals in this position provide a variety of HIV related educational, screening, and referralservices. Services are provided to clients of Tri-County and to other target populations asdetermined by administrative staff.Position ExpectationIn keeping with the mission and core values of Tri-County Human Services, all persons served,stakeholders, and fellow employees will be treated with dignity, respect, and shown sensitivity totheir cultural diversity. Referenced by policy numbers 100.000, 100.000A, and 100.004.Primary Duties and Responsibilities1. Provides voluntary and confidential HIV pre-test and post-test counseling and partnerelicitation utilizing the protocol for same established by the State of Florida.2. Draws blood for HIV antibody screening from clients utilizing established procedures forsame or completes HIV Antibody screening with alternative approved methods.3. Establishes and Provides health education and HIV risk reduction education to client groups inTri-County facilities and to others if so requested.4. Refers clients to community resources as appropriate.5. Demonstrates the use of hygiene materials (condoms, bleach, etc.) as appropriate anddistributes HIV related written materials.6. Communicates with appropriate individuals at Tri-County and other treatment facilitiesregarding testing schedule and presentation plan.7. Acts as liaison between Tri-County and County Public Health Units in cases of HIV positiveclients unable to be located.8. Orders supplies needed for counseling and testing, including but not limited to scan forms,medical and office supplies, and educational materials.9. Prepares and maintains computer data on KIS system, client records, technical reports, otherforms, and written documentation as required by contract and regulatory standards withinstruction from appropriate supervisory personnel.10. Develops and recommends Policy/Procedure relative to HIV Outreach services.11. Function in a lead coordination role to insure all HIV services are being provided.12. Performs other project related duties as assigned.Minimum Training and ExperienceRequires a high school diploma or GED and at least two (2) years of full-time experience in a mentalhealth, addictions treatment, or medical care setting. A bachelor's degree in Human Services may besubstituted for the two (2) years of experience.Requires completion of HIV Counseling, Testing and Partner Elicitation course and of any othertraining courses that may be required by the State of Florida.This job description is not a written nor implied contract and may be revised by Tri-County at theirdiscretion.
